Gargantua Harbour

Man Fishing on Rocky Shore

Looking to take your family on the perfect Northern Ontario getaway? Look no further. Lake Superior's stunning beauty are on full display at this accessible hot spot; Gargantua Harbour.

Back in the 1970s it could only be accessed by a 5 kilometre walk down an impassible road, but now Gargantua Harbour has flourished into one of Northern Ontario's most beautiful and accessible hot-spots. Whether you want to fish for plentiful Lake Trout off the shores, hike the trails running north and south of the rugged coastal landscape, strap on a life-jacket and swim out to the shipwreck from back in 1909, or portage down the inlet, you're going to have a blast.

To get there just turn left off highway 17 about 175 kilometres north of Sault Ste. Marie and follow the 12 kilometre gravel road to the landing. Other then your fishing gear, be sure to bring some sturdy hiking boots, and a nice pair of binoculars to view the plentiful wildlife.

This is just one of the many ways you can have a great time fishing in Northern Ontario. See more great vacation ideas or get more information about fishing in Ontario.
